Growing by Leaps and Bounds: October 2008

Michael's Story...

Michael was born weighing 8lbs 14oz and 20.5" long. At 1yr old he was noted as being on the 'small side', but nothing too troubling. By his 18month checkup he had fallen to the 3rd %iles and was referred to a pediatric endocrineologist. He was measured from head to toe, and had a bone age scan done. It was then we found out his bone age was that of a nine month old. He was followed every 3-6 months and always grew just enough to please the doctor.
By the time he started first grade however, he had completely stopped growing. At 6 years old he was just 39" tall and 35 lbs. It was then we started HGH therapy.
